About The Author

Following a forty-six-year career in education, forty-four of those in Catholic schools with thirty-one in the role of head of school, George Valadie has authored his first book and now travels the country speaking in a variety of educational settings.

He has delivered keynote addresses to diocesan-wide teacher gatherings of 400+ as well as a start-of-school kick-off to a staff of twenty-five. His opportunities have also included speaking in student, staff and parish retreat settings.

The messages he delivers draw not only from his experiences as a classroom teacher, sponsor, coach, dean of students and principal / president but include the insights that come with being a husband, dad and grandfather.

1. What inspired you to write this book?

It’s been a dream of mine for 25 years since I first began writing columns for diocesan newspapers. The inspiration has been marinating for a while; the time to do it is a recent gift.

2. Why did you decide to publish?

Every now and again one reader or another has related how a column would touch them. I have a hope that publishing this book might reach more and touch more.

3. What do you hope readers discover in your book?

-If you teach kids who aren’t perfect, have kids who aren’t perfect or ever were one yourself, you’ll find stories in here for you.

-If you live life and mess it up now and again, you’ll find stories in here for you.

-If people and events of this world are still able to grab your attention and provide an occasional moment of amazement or   awe, you’ll find stories in here for you.

-Readers will recognize themselves, their families and their friends in these stories of real life that always tell a deeper truth.

4. It’s not a novel; it’s not an instructional guide; how would you describe your book?

It’s a book of stories – traveling the seasons of the year, the seasons of faith and the seasons of life … journeys all of us
will make.
